10 Years Celebration of DEA, Bangladesh


Award Leaders of Uttara University Unit attended in "10 Years Celebration program" of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award held at The Gulshan Club on September 06, 2019.

Ms. Dulali Rani Saha, Assistant Professor, Dept of Education, Md. Kamruzzaman, Assistant Professor, Dept of EEE, and Md. Amirul Islam, Assistant Professor, Dept of Mathematics represented the Uttara University Unit in that prestigious program.

The celebration program was graced by the presence of Honorable State Minister for Youth and Sports-Md. Zahid Ahsan Russel MP as Chief Guest, British High Commissioner to Bangladesh-HE Robert Chatterton Dickson and Secretary General of The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Foundation, Mr. John May also graced the program respectively as Special Guest and Guest of Honor. The program was lively with the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The DEA Foundation Bangladesh, Mr. A. K. Shamsuddin Khan; also Ms. Lubna Choudhury, Mr. Sayeeful Islam, Mr. Mirza Salman Ispahani, Mr. Rizwan Bin Farouq from the Board of Trustees and members of Executive Committee of The DEA Foundation Bangladesh, and other distinguished guests.

Uttara University successfully running this award operation since 2017. Any students (aged between 14 to 24 year olds) from any department of Uttara Unversity can join with this team.

CSE students received certificates for skill development on Mobile Game and Application Development from Ministry of ICT


Dept. of CSE, Uttara University, organized a certificate giving ceremony jointly with Ministry of ICT, Bangladesh, on September 04, 2019 at the CSE seminar room. Delegates from the Ministry of ICT distributed certificates and incentives to the CSE students who had completed four months long training on mobile game and application development and successfully passed the post-training examination. A number of faculty members from the Dept. of CSE, including chairman of the dept Prof. Dr. Md. Mijanur Rahman, Prof. Md. Shahnewaz Khan, Assc. Prof. Dr. A. H. M. Saifullah Sadi, Assoc. Prof. Md. Shafiul Alam Chowdhury and Asst. Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman were present in the ceremony. A large number of CSE students received the certificates with a strong determination to do better in the post-training initiatives taken by the Ministry of ICT.

Seventh monthly research colloquium of School of Business


The seventh monthly research colloquium of School of Business was held on 21 August 2019 Wednesday at IQAC Seminar Hall. Mrs. Sonia Rezina, Assistant Professor of Department of Business Administration was the speaker. She spoke on “A study on the determinants of capital structure in the textile industry of Bangladesh.” All of the faculty members of the department were present. Research Club played an active role to organize the colloquium. Assistant Professor Mr.  Md. Anisuzzaman will be the speaker of the next colloquium which will be held tentatively on 25 September 2019.

Industrial Tour at “Saif Power Battery Factory” organized by “IEEE UU Student Branch”

“IEEE UU Student Branch” along with Dept. of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Uttara University successfully organized an industrial tour at “Saif Power Battery Factory”, Pubail, Gazipur, Dhaka on 6th August 2019. The tour was led by the Branch Counselor Md. Kamruzzaman(Assistant Professor & Coordinator-EEE), Dr. Md Akhtaruzzaman (Assistant Professor-CSE) and Md. Shahriar Kabir (Lecturer-EEE). In this tour, 16 IEEE-student-Members and 14 non-IEEE members from department of EEE and department of CSE were participated and actively observed all technical process of battery manufacturing. The senior officials and engineers of Saif Powertec Ltd., Major Farukh Ahmed Khan(Retd.) (COO, Admin & Logistics), Engr. Shajal Kumer Sharma (Chief Operating Officer-Factory Operation), S M Shamsul Farhan (Chief Operating Officer-Battery Division), Dider Alam Chowdhury (Factory Manager-DGM Operation), Rakibul Islam (Brand Communication Officer), Md. Monir Hossain(Assistant Manager-Admin) presented their technology and shared their experiences related to manufacturing, testing and research. The day-long tour was started with a “Technical session” where factory engineers describe battery manufacturing process. After that, “Factory visit session” where whole process was observed practically and after lunch the tour ended with a “closing session”, where some souvenir was handed over to faculties from “Saif Powertec Ltd.” and both organizations express their interest in further collaboration regarding knowledge sharing, training and employment. All the faculty members and the students of Uttara University were very pleased for the hospitality and co-operation from the Saif Powertec Ltd. In addition, “IEEE UU Student Branch” and dept. of EEE Uttara University, are very thankful, to Mr. Tarafder Md. Ruhul Saif, Director, SAIF Powertec limited for permitting this tour. Also Special thanks to Engr. Rezaul Karim sobuz, Senior Manager(operation & service) SAIF Powertec limited for his excellent support. Notes: SAIF POWERTEC LTD is one of the largest company of Bangladesh keeping its territory into the world of engineering services specially in the energy sector of Bangladesh. SAIF POWERTEC LTD. set its footstep into the Battery Industry as the as the largest Battery Manufacturing plant with the capacity of over 1.2 million automotive Battery (N50) per year.
