Uttara University Organized “1st UU Career Fair 2016” on 9 April 2016
Uttara University organized its 1st UU Career Fair 2016 on 09 April 2016 Saturday in SOB Campus of Uttara University from 10:00am to 5:00pm at NZ Centre, House 5, Road 12, Sector 6, Uttara, Dhaka for the job seekers and university graduates. The program was inaugurated by His Excellency, Dr. Abbas Vaezi, Honorable Ambassador of The Islamic Republic of Iran to Dhaka. Vice Chancellor of Uttara University, Professor Dr. M Azizur Rahman, Pro Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Eaysmin Ara Lekha and Mr. Md Musharrof Hossain, Head, Human Resources Management, icddr,b, Bangladesh & President, BSHRM and President, APFHRM were present as Special Guests. The Honorable State Minister of Finance, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Mr. M A Mannan, MP graced the ‘Closing Ceremony’ as the Chief Guest. Both Inaugural Program and Closing Ceremony were Chaired by Dr Nazrul Islam, Convener of the 1st UU Career Fair 2016 and the Dean of School of Business of Uttara University. Two important seminars and one panel discussion were arranged on that day. Mr. Md Musharrof Hossain, Head, Human Resources Management, icddr,b was the key resource person in the first seminar on “Employers’ Expectations towards Jobseekers”. Mr. M. Shabbir Ali, Executive Director, DBL Group, Dhaka, Bangladesh conducted the second seminar titled “What makes a Job Interview Successful in an Employer’s Eyes”? The panel discussion was attended by Mr. Abu Abdulla, Deputy Managing Director, AB Bank Ltd, Mr. Md Musharrof Hossain, Head, Human Resources Management, icddr,b, Mr. K M Hasan Ripon, Chief Executive Officer, Jobsbd.com, Md Mashequr Rahman Khan, Chairman & MD, Progressive Training Development and Consultants (PTDC), Dhaka, Mr. Quazi M Ahmed, Lead Consultant & CEO, Future Leaders, Bangladesh and Mr. Bishnu K. Bhakto, DGM – HR, Kazi Media Ltd, Dhaka. The title of the Panel Discussion session was “Job Market in Bangladesh: Challenges & Opportunities”. A number of esteemed companies, corporate houses, consulting firms, and higher education agencies attended the fair and interviewed the graduates for their future employment. In average, 350-400 CVs were received by each company and agency from the prospective candidates. The corporate houses and the higher education agencies attended the fair are: British Council, Career Australia, FutureEd Corp Ltd., icddr,b, Bangladesh Society for Human Resources Management (BSHRM), ITC Bangladesh, Akij Food and Beverage Ltd., Mirpur Ceramics & Khadim Ceramics, Globe Forwarding & Freight Ltd, DBL Group, Progressive Training Development and Consultants (PTDC), Modhumoti Bank Ltd, RAK Paints Ltd., Jobsbd.com, Bank Asia Ltd., Walton Group, Chaldal.com, Bangladesh Advanced Technologies Ltd., Khandker Mahbub Hossain & Associates. More than 4,000 students and graduates of Uttara University and other universities visited the fair and made the event successful.
