A team of delegates from the Department of CSE, Uttara University, met Mr. Syed Almas Kabir, the President of the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) on April 2, 2019. The team consisted of Dr. Md. Mijanur Rahman, professor & chairman, Dr. A. H. M. Saifullah Sadi, associate professor, Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman, assistant professor and Mr. Uttam Kumar Dey, senior lecturer of the department. The meeting was blessed by the kind presence of Hon'ble Adviser of BASIS, Mr. Abdullah H. Kafi. The meeting highlighted the linkage between industries and academia. Mr. Syed Almas Kabir and Mr. Abdullah H. Kafi emphatically stressed on the requirement of modernization of the CSE curricula in order to meet the industrial needs. Also, they mentioned that due to lack of skills in ICT, lot of CSE graduates are facing difficulty in getting jobs in spite of availability of lot of ICT job vacancies. They appreciated the initiatives taken by the department of CSE, Uttara University, to introduce job-market driven education system in the department. The meeting can be seen as step forward in academia-industry linkage and has opened up internship opportunities for the graduates of the department through kind assistance and guidance of BASIS.
